Sunday 13 June 2027 · 20:00 · Teatro Cervantes Málaga, Málaga
Wim Mertens presents his album "As Water Is to Fish" in trio format at Teatro Cervantes on Sunday 13 June 2027 at 20:00, as part of MOSMA Reloaded 2026-27, Málaga's 11th International Film Music Festival.
A work of delicate beauty and emotional depth that lingers long after the final note. Known for his distinctive musical language, Mertens invites listeners into a world where minimalism meets lyrical intensity. Famous worldwide for his hypnotic score for "The Belly of an Architect" and timeless pieces such as "Struggle for Pleasure", "Often a Bird", "Iris" and "Close Cover", at this concert he'll play material from "As Water Is to Fish" alongside "Ranges of Robustness" (2024) and a selection of his best-known compositions.
Over 45 years, the Belgian composer has developed a highly refined personal language, writing for solo piano, for various ensembles, for voices and for symphony orchestra. He has 75 published titles to his name, and in 2019 gathered four decades of his work into "Inescapable", a limited-edition box set.
Running time: 1 h 50 min, no interval.
