Mario Biondi

Mario Biondi opens the 40th Málaga International Jazz Festival at Teatro Cervantes on Tuesday 3 November 2026 at 20:00.

2024 marked twenty years since the single "This Is What You Are" launched Mario Biondi's worldwide success, a breakthrough that was cemented in 2006 with the album "Handful of Soul" and that has since placed him among the most interesting figures in European soul. Marking that anniversary, the Italian vocalist presents "This Is What You Are 20 Years", a tour revisiting a unique career full of soul, R&B and funk, always delivered with elegance.

With a deep, warm baritone voice, his style follows in the footsteps of great vocalists such as Lou Rawls and Barry White, drawing on the beauty of the Philadelphia sound and the best groove of the 1970s, somewhere between crooner and soulman. Biondi has explored countless genres and rhythms, bringing freshness and charisma to each without losing his unmistakable vintage style. His extraordinary vocal qualities have led him to collaborate with bands such as Incognito and The Crusaders, and with legends including Chaka Khan, Michael Bolton and Ray Charles.

Mario Biondi (vocals), Massimo Greco (piano and musical direction), Matteo Cutello (trumpet), Giovanni Cutello (saxophone), Saleem Ameen (bass and double bass) and David Haynes (drums).

Running time: 1 h 30 min, no interval.
