Zenet

Antonio Mellado Escalona, known artistically as Zenet, was born in Málaga on 2 October 1967. He grew up in the Pedregalejo neighbourhood, in a family with diverse musical influences including flamenco, jazz, Latin American and classical music. He trained in visual arts and drama before becoming a leading figure in contemporary Spanish music.

Zenet is a multi-talented artist — singer, actor and visual artist — who describes himself as an "Andalusian crooner". His music fuses genres such as jazz, flamenco, bolero, copla and tango into a style all his own. He made his solo debut in 2008 with the critically acclaimed album "Los Mares de China" and has released nine albums since. He has won the MIN Independent Music Award for Best Jazz Album (2017 and 2020) and the International Cubadisco Award (2019).
