The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are an indie pop and shoegaze band formed in New York in 2007 around singer and songwriter Kip Berman. With their self-titled debut album (2009) and "Belong" (2011) they won over the international indie scene, blending dreamy melodies with powerful walls of distorted guitar. Their sound draws on the shoegaze of My Bloody Valentine, dream pop and the twee sounds of the 1980s. In 2026 they're touring to mark the 15th anniversary of their discography.
