Juan Luis Guerra

Juan Luis Guerra (Santo Domingo, 1957) is the most universal Dominican musician and one of the great innovators of Latin music over the last four decades. Fronting his band 4.40, he has turned merengue and bachata into globally recognised genres with legendary albums such as "Bachata Rosa" (1990), "Fogaraté!" (1994) and "La Llave de Mi Corazón" (2007). He has won more than twenty Latin Grammys and four American Grammys, as well as the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award. His songs — "Ojalá que llueva café", "Burbujas de amor", "Frío, frío", "El costo de la vida" — are part of the collective Latin American imagination.
