Chambao

Chambao are a Málaga-based musical project formed in 2001 in the Pedregalejo neighbourhood, pioneers of "flamenco chill": an innovative fusion of electronic and chill-out rhythms with the essence of Andalusian flamenco cante. Fronted by La Mari (María del Mar Rodríguez Carnero), the group's soul and voice. Their debut went triple platinum in Spain, "Ahí estás tú" became an anthem through an Andalusian tourism campaign, and "Papeles mojados" earned a Latin Grammy nomination (2008). They remain the absolute reference point for this style.
